about

Too Many Love Songs is the latest single from Alex Whorms new EP which is scheduled to be released in September 2019. In this upbeat yet ironic song, Alex Whorms explores the way life is nothing like what we hear on the radio. Lamenting that she has “written too many love songs” Alex Whorms expresses her love/hate relationship with a glamourized view of romance in popular culture.

lyrics

Too much pop on the radio and the TV stations
Take the new songs and shut 'em out
And we were dialed in to stupid high expectations
Of everyday life and everyday love

When I called into question the lengths we go to to fit in,
I couldn't see the end
I had written eleven ballads for my boyfriend and
picked up my pen

I've written too many love songs in the face of my fear
Since I've been with you
Why do I feel like a winner in someone else's shoes?
I've written too many longs
I wish they were true

There was pop on the patio and there was a case of beer
We keep on pushing the envelope
I know it's irresponsible to drink for attention
But it's either lose out or lose myself

And I counted the coasters, the kisses to my collar
Feeling angry and confused
I want not to want to, I hate the mainstream, the media
I realize that I've been used

I've written too many love songs in the face of my fear
Since I've been with you
Why do I feel like a winner in someone else's shoes?
I've written too many longs
I wish they were true

I've written too many love songs,
Too many love songs...
