"Sunset" is the lead single from Alex Whorms, a Hamilton-based singer-songwriter poised to release her second EP. "Sunset" explores the nostalgia of first love lost and the mixture of memories and emotions that remain.
Strings and driving guitars communicate the frenetic intensity and frustration of this unresolved experience, yet glimpses of hope and determination appear.
Alex Whorms' music has been described as "organic" and "hugely refreshing".
lyrics
I walked a broken road, down to a place we used to go
It's a different world this time around
The evening is still quite warm, the water is slow and shallow,
Our footsteps are buried underneath the ground
Oh sun,
Don't set on me
I took my pocket change, cancelled my old investment
Said I would find my way from here
The sun set in gold that night, I knew I owned the sky and
I felt my vision start to clear
Oh sun,
Don't set on me
Oh sun,
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone for life
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone,
I just wanted to love someone for life
Sometimes I think it strange, the Earth turning endlessly,
Somehow still moving on
I catch a glimpse of the truth each time I go this route,
there's something there I didn't see before
Oh sun,
Don't set on me,
Don't set on me
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone for life
I wanted to love someone,
I wanted to love someone,
I just wanted to love someone for life...
